    Hello Shrushti Bankar,
    These days, perhaps in Tamil Nadu, marks of 12th are utilised only to determine yes or no meaning minimum marks must be obtained in 12th below which a student can not seek admission in engineering. However actual admission is based on ranking in the entrance exam conducted by the states. Best wishes to you.
