A lot of people think that cabin crew members are paid way more despite doing the work of primarily a waiter/waitress.

What do the cabin crew members have to say to this?

I really pity those who feel cabin crew are waiters. In that case, an airplane should be comparable to any public transport bus and the pilots should be considered like drivers.
They are part of the hospitality industry and work on flights to make your journey comfortable and pleasant. Hence, it is not correct to name them as waiters.
Now, coming to the point of their wages. They are paid good because they are trained professionals to remain calm and composed in situations like:
    Bomb Threat,
    Hijack,
    Pressurization failure,
    Fire,
    Evacuation,
    Windshear,
    or any other hazardous situation.
They are trained in such a manner that the safety of passe

A cabin crew job is not about giving and clearing trays in the cabin, at 45000 feet from ground.
Here you deal with safety first, which is the utmost importance for any airline.
The main purpose of cabin crew present on board is safety of passengers.
The other service aspect are followed after that.
A cabin crew is trained for tackling emergency situation on board aircraft be it fire on board.
Emergency evacuation is done when any passenger suffering from moderate to severe life threatening situation.
A cabin crew is trained to give basic first aid treatment to a passenger on board in absence of any doctor.

    Hello,
This observation is made by the uninitiated and by those people who do not know about full details of the job. Yes, cabin crews indeed serve food and water to the guests on board and hence could be equated to waiter/ waitress. But unfortunately what most people do not know is that, major job of cabin crew on board is to ensure safety of the aircraft and thus provide safe environment to guests flying with them. Due to this safety issue, cabin crew has to get certified on the type of aircraft they are likely to fly and one more type of aircraft the career may be operating. Not only this, they had to undergo refresher course to rema

A cabin crew job is not only about serving food and clearing trays of the passengers but it is much more than that.
A layman can also serve food and clear trays, but when it comes to safety only the cabin crew knows what to do in these circumstances. They are the ones who are given the training and are expected to react if the need arises and that is what they are paid for.
The duties of a cabin crew member in an international airline is –
    1) Attending pre-flight briefing, in which the members are assigned work.
Crew is also informed about the flight details, no of infants, passengers with special requirements, no of senior citizens.
