It depends on which NIT for chemical and which NIT for ECE. If your interests lie in chemical and if you dislike circuit branches please do not take up ECE as you will regret your choice for the next 4 years of engineering. There are colleges like NIT Allahabad whose average package for chemical is around 9.5 lacs whereas there are colleges like NIT KKR whose ECE is not very good (average).
