,Amrita here,i am m.a(english),and b.ed,and want to pusue m.phill through distance,suggest any valid indian uni.except southern.

Hi Amrita, As rightly said by Mahesh and Suni, M.Phil and Phd degrees have been banned through Distance learning so, please before you plunge into any institute to do this degree, you must check whether the degree is valid and is approved by the Education Authorities or not

Amrita.UGC has banned many universities from conducting MPhil and PhD courses through distance learning and imposed strict admission rules and regulations on many universities that offer such courses. The reason is that the lack of strict rules have paved the way for many people to get permanent lectureship positions in colleges. The restrictions mean that not all subjects can be taught through distance learning at MPhil/PhD level. Also, UGC has imposed strict entrance requirements for admission to MPhil and PhD. The Ministry of HRD is keen on improving and maintaining the standards of the teaching community in India at degree level. Further details are available in the UGC website. My opinion is that the poor quality of education offered by universities offering distance learning MPhil/PhD courses could be the main reason behind such rules. Please take a sensible decision. Quality of education you receive will reflect the quality of education you provide at college level. Give me a thumbs up if I have answered your question.

IGNOU offers Master of Philosophy in Gender and Development Studies , for M Phil its advisable to pursue a regular program.
