NCERT books just give u an overall summary or synopsis of the various chapters.u need to go through other books for detailed concepts like pradeeps and comprehensive chem.ABC biology and r.d sharma for a good rank in the JEE

A true and detailed study of both 11 th and 12th class NCERT books is sufficient for JEE main. But keep a point in mind dear, you should be thorough with every minute concept of NCERT
But for advanced point of view, the application part of NCERT books concept is needed
It's not at all a matter that if u have only coaching you could crack JEE main and advanced
I think you have understood my words.all d best

for JEE Advanced, each and every question is from NCERT. pradeeps subjective books are good for JEE Mains. many questions in JEE Mains are from previous year question papers of various medical and engineering entrance exams.
