Can you tell me about civil engineering?

There has been a little dip in number of CE aspirants because some other streams are thought to be more glamorous. Due to this dip, the number of passing grads is also low, so the scope is immense. When the economy in last 28 years is going full steam, the entire landscape of the country has seen a sea change. And this change will keep on going for another century on back of infrastructure push, public spending and rising incomes among the population. All these thing point towards a huge construction push in next few decades, and we will need skilled Civil engineers to execute all this. From homes to buildings to office spaces to factories to malls to entire cities to motorways to airports to hospitals to corporate complexes every project needs civil engineers to execute! I would say that CE has a huge scope of jobs in private sector, government sector, higher education and entrepreneurship. Some private sector job profiles available are: Engineering project managers Sr Civil engineers Engineering manager Civil engineer engineering inspectors and regulatory officers Civil engineering drafter Civil engineering technologist land surveyer Job opportunity in (PSUs) If you are technically strong, you can apply for PSUs. Nowadays they are mainly dependent on the GATE score. They are publishing advertisements regularly in the national newspapers. So, prepare hard for GATE. Practically all civil service positions in public works departments are held by civil engineers. This is also, one of the best CE career options. Various Government departments like the Central public works department (CPWD), Department of Atomic energy, etc. Conduct their own exams for recruitment. Certainly Yes. In Civil Engineering there is an emphasis on the evolution of manmade infrastructure as they understand that how they have evolved to the present scenario. With advancement of technology in leaps and bounds the future of civil engineering in the years to come will be crucial, especially with the establishment of smart cities. My Friend in this domain at LPU was telling me that Students are exposed to different practical oriented fun games and learning activities such as competitions, quizzes, workshops, live projects, etc. Which create an opportunity for students to engage and hone up their analysis, design and drawing skillswhich is required at industry. Intellectual Industry officials regularly visit school for guiding faculty members and students itself. Workshops are being arranged for enhancing student knowledge. : Experienced faculty members of the discipline nominated as mentors to eligible students which resulted in students satisfaction and improved placements. Dear Gaya, Lovely Professional University is one of the best institutes for engineering in the state of Punjab. So if a degree in B.Tech (Civil engineering) is what you seek, I suggest that you do consider LPU. I have sound reasons to actually make this suggestion. Actually I did MBA from Lovely Professional University but I have one friend who has done B.Tech Civil Engineering From LPU.
