Do I need to apply separately for all IIMs after giving the CAT?

The CAT form itself has the list of all IIMs where you can choose all those where you want to apply for. Your CAT score will be sent to the IIMs you select and they will shortlist the candidates based on that score. After the results are out, you will receive an email from the IIMs if you are selected based on CAT score and your profile. The process thereafter will require you to separately apply on their respective portals if you want to accept the call. The further process What/GD and PI will be conducted separately by different IIMs and then the respective list of selected candidates is released. As the criteria is slightly different, the selected candidates can be different. The selected candidates are required to confirm the admission according to the instructions sent by the particular IIM. In summary, you don't have to apply to IIMs with your CAT score as they receive it directly. However, the process is different for different IIMs once you get a call for GD-PI.

Because all IIM conduct their common test and on the basis of rank the college is alloted to students During CAT exam registration, there will be one section where you have to choose the Iims and programs you are interested in make a wise choice and select maximum option so that you have more chance to get enrolled and selected. The answer is number after giving the CAT you don't need to apply for each IIM separately. It is much like the counselling process for JEE preference filling. So, once you given CAT and results are out, you just have to fill your preferences. It's up to you as of how many IIMs to apply and in what order. Then, all the IIMs will prepare lists of short listed candidates for further rounds. This list is prepared by using your CAT score. Then, once you get the call, you have to go for further rounds which consists of what/GD and personal interview. So once you have given the What and Interview, you have to wait for results to be announced. If you are selected, you will receive a mail from the respective IIM. They also open a portal that allows you to check if you are selected or not. Then, you have to finish all the formalities and just enjoy the fruit of your hard work.

No, you don't need to apply separately for any of the new or old Indian Institutes of Management. When you fill the application form you have to fill a preference as to how many IIMs you wish to be part of. This is a one-time process which needs to be completed at the time of the application process. Based on the options that you choose and on the various admission criteria that different IIMs put up you are given a call and further process of Group Discussion/Writing Ability Test/Personal Interview process takes place. However, if you don’t want to put all your eggs in one single basket you might apply for various different institutes of international reputation like SP Jain Institute of Management and Research and various other institutes of preference. It all depends on your career preferences.

No you don't need to apply for IIM after giving CAT as CAT is conducted by IIM oy to Admission into their PGP program. So if you score well and have cutoff marks you will get call for your IIM which you have filed as preferred in your application form so no need to worry to apply separately. You will get a call based on your score, your graduation marks and your work experience all these are taken into account to give a call to applicant for GDPI process. So if you will get shortlisted you will be called automatically. Yes, you need to apply to other colleges who are also accepting the score of CAT but not for IIMs. There has been a shifting pattern in CAT, now all your graduation and work experience along with score are taken into account to give you call.

No. You don't need to apply to all IIMs separately because when you apply for the CAT exam you simultaneous apply to all IIMs. During CAT exam registration, there will be one section where you have to choose the IIMs and programs you are interested in. So, it means that you apply to IIMs when you apply for CAT exam. But please remember that you have to apply separately to other B schools like FMS, MDI Gurgaon, IMT Ghaziabad, etc. So, please take care of the other B-School application. In some cases, you have to apply to some B school even before giving your CAT exam example FMS Delhi. I hope this helps and Good Luck!
