NITs are the premier engineering institutes in India. NIT Calicut is one these NITs and is pretty well known all over India. According to the National Institute ranking framework it stands at 44th rank among all the engineering colleges in India.
For engineering physics out of 12 students who enrolled for placements only 2 were placed. One got a salary of 4.5 LPA and other got a salary of 4.2 LPA making the average salary 4.35 LPA as such. NITC was established in 1961 and was known as Calicut Regional Engineering College (CREC) until 2002. It is one of the NITs established by the Govt. of India for imparting high standard technical education to students from all over the country. The college is among the very few institutions in the country to host supercomputers of its own.

The college is well known for its placement and is very stable in terms of faculties and infrastructure.
