IGNOU courses teach you self study and discipline, which is demand in programming, in engineering college no teachers are updated with new technologies, its better for you do self study rather being unemployed like other fresh engineering graduates.
When I was pursuingMCA from IGNOU, thenI was teaching as well, by doing job along with degree from distance only worth. Try to do job with yourrelevant field would added weight in your degree.
Try to follow following hard core rules while pursuing MCA from IGNOU -
Submit your Assignments/projects on time.
Appear each term end semester exam(mostly students avoid it on time).

The basic objective of the BCA programme is to open a channel of admission for computing courses for students, who have done the 10+2 and are interested in taking computing/IT as a career.
