SSC CGL is one of the most coveted exams for Lacs of aspirants. Every year SSC announces the notification for CGL and with this starts the mayhem among students as for how to prepare? From where to prepare? What topics to be covered on a priority basis? What to practice to have that speed and accuracy to sail through this tough exam? Etc. And to overcome this chaos in their mind what students do usually is to join a coaching institute, in search of a good coach to help her clear the exam. Seems the correct step but it has been proved to be the wrong step for most of the aspirants. Why? The reason is just one and quite simple too- Not knowing yourself! Before joining any coaching you must first assess yourself on the basis of the syllabus and previous year questions asked. You will surely have some weak and some strong areas in the preparation. Now, you should assess whether you would be able to improve upon your weak spots by yourself, using PLENTY OF RESOURCES AVAILABLE IN THE MARKET AND ON THE INTERNET. If you find it necessary to join a coaching, join one BUT only after making enough enquiries from not only the coaching institute but also its students. Be assured that you are not going to waste your TIME and MONEY. If you don't find it necessary to join a coaching, that's great too. Follow a disciplined routine by having short-term as well as long-term targets for yourself. Try to involve your friend or family member into this by telling them your targets and requesting them to keep you in check. ( Try to seek help from your mother and believe me you will be reminded of your targets a sufficient number of times in a day, to make you work on it anyhow. Now comes the resource list: For GA, you can follow Lucent GK/ Pratiyogita Darpan/Previous year questions For Quant -Previous year questions are the best source, buy any good publications solved PYQ. Apart from that, you may practice from SSC Mathematics by Rakesh Yadav. For Reasoning, verbal and non-verbal reasoning by R S Agarwal would be sufficient as this section is on the easier side in SSC CGL. For English-Objective general English by SP Bakhshi is a good one. There are plenty of online portals which might help you for free or a minimal charge. One of these is Smartkeeda /Test Zone. SSC CGL Test Series 2018 You can try this portal as they charge you a fraction of what the so called reputed coaching institutes will ask and provide you with very good content.
