How is LPU for sports? Has any LPU student gotten selected for the Indian Army?

At LPU, sports facilities are available for various games like cricket, football, boxing, basketball, etc. And many students at the university have achieved excellence in various sports. Indoor stadiums, library, gym, mess, etc. Are the LPU Phagwara facilities that are offered to the students. Recently, Lovely Professional University won India's the largest sports festival- Khelo India University Games 2021 (KIUG-2021), held in Bengaluru (Karnataka). The LPU team won, the most, 51 medals (17 gold, 15 silver, 19 bronze); 19 medals ahead of the overall winner. These games are to serve as qualifiers for the World University Games, presently scheduled to be held in Chengdu, China. The 10-day second edition of the international framework of the games witnessed 20 sports competitions, with 3900 participants from 208 universities across India. LPU sports persons exhibited their excellence amid star participation including internationally acclaimed athletes and Olympians. Defending champions Panjab University Chandigarh finished third. Last year, eleven LPU students won Olympics medals including Neeraj Chopra, a Javelin Throw athlete who won a GOLD MEDAL for India at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 after 121 years! We are still in shock and humbled by the exhilarating and miraculous performance thrown by this LPU student who not only made us but the whole of INDIA proud! Jaismine Lamboria is a name known to each one of us due to her humongous achievement of winning a Bronze medal in the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham 2022 in the 60 kg weight category female. She also performed incredibly in the World Boxing Championships before the installment of the Commonwealth Games. Recently, LPU student Jaismine Lamboria became the first female boxer to become a part of the Indian Army. Twenty-year-old Jasmine has been recruited as a Recruit Havildar in the Corps of Military Police. The Indian Army are already privileged by male boxers like Manish Kaushik, Admit Panghal, and Mohammad Hussamuddin.

LPU campus is spread over 600+ acre with ample space for almost all kinds of games. LPU has set up Sports facilities like grounds for Cricket, Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Table-Tennis and, Badminton. The university has 5 field playgrounds comprising of Cricket Ground, Hockey Ground, Football Ground. At LPU the students are well trained by experienced coaches. LPU has football club of 250 members. LPU students have represented India at international level in various sports. Vikas Panwar, a Lovely Professional University student of MBA has bagged Silver Medal in American Football World Championship held at Catalunya, Spain. LPU's B.A. Student Neeraj Chopra created history by winning 'Gold Medal' at Tokyo Olympics 2020; whereas, M.A. Public Administration student Bajrang Punia won Bronze. Captained by LPU's MBA student Manpreet Singh, the Men's Hockey team also brought Bronze for the country. SEE if you have a good interest in sports along with studies then undoubtedly LPU is the right place for you to excel n prove yourself in these fields Lovely Professional University believes that talent is not captive to anything. Unfortunately, many of the talented students have to compromise on their careers because of financial hardships. LPU provides scholarship on the basis of their performance in Sports, which aims at realizing the dreams of all those who seriously chase their dreams. Along with other career pathways offered at LPU, it prepares its students for joining Indian Army too. LPU has a National Cadet Corps (NCC) as well as NSS unit, and encourages its students to join and actively participate in all the events. Saurav Kumar is an alumnus of LPU and a Senior Division Cadet of 8th Punjab Battalion, NCC at Phagwara. He cleared SSB (Service Selection Board) examination and got selected as an officer for the Indian Army (TGC-133). He passed the C Certificate examination in 2020. All the best!

<p>Lovely Professional University (LPU) is also the best in encouraging sports and students who want to be members of Indian Army. Its sporting amenities are of the world best standard and attitude towards sporting excellence is a very keen culture with the students attaining medals at local and international events. LPU has a respectable record in sports which is seen in winning the First Runner-Up title in the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad (MAKA) Trophy and Khelo India University Games in 2024, showing its commitment towards sports excellence. LPU has also brought up the Indian Olympians such as the legendary sports captain of the Indian hockey team Harmanpreet Singh. Other than playing, LPU also encourages students on joining the Indian Army as a career. As an instance, alumnus Saurav Kumar, a NCC alumnus cadet became a Lieutenant in the Technical Graduate Course having passed to the Service Selection Board test. The fact that the university promotes the defense related research and training also prepares the students to pursue lucrative careers in the armed forces. LPU Jalandhar sports facilities are available for various games like cricket, football, boxing, basketball, etc. And many students of the university have achieved excellence in various sports. Recently, LPU student Jaismine Lamboria became the first female boxer to become a part of the Indian Army. Twenty-year-old Jasmine has been recruited as a Recruit Havildar in the Corps of Military Police. Jaismine thanks LPU and her coaches for supporting her and providing the best of facilities. LPU supported us a lot. Here, the coaches train us very well and the training facility is amazing too. I have received scholarships too, and I train here free off cost. Not only me, all the sportspersons here, no matter what sport they are in, they all have the best facilities here at LPU, she adds.

Yes, LPU does recruit students for sports and there is lots of good opportunities for the students who are interested in sports and also they can get scholarship based on their participation and achievements on different levels. All of us are familiar with Jaismine Lamboria thanks to her enormous accomplishment of earning a Bronze medal in the female 60 kg weight category at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in 2022. In the World Boxing Championships held prior to the start of the Commonwealth Games, she also shown incredible performance. Jaismine Lamboria, a student at LPU, just became the first female boxer to enlist in the Indian Army. Jasmine, age 20, has been recruited by the Corps of Military Police as a Recruit Havildar. Male boxers like Manish Kaushik, Admit Panghal, and Mohammad Hussamuddin have already given the Indian Army an edge.
