How is the XAT score and percentile calculated?

To calculate your final XAT percentile, you need to follow the given steps:
1) Add the total sum of all percentile of different areas like VA, DM and Quantitative Ability.
2) This sum is to be divided by the aggregate number 245.
3) To calculate the final percentage, the number is to be multiplied by 100. Although by 31st Jan, the final score card will be out. There might be no or little change in your tentative and final result. These are according to the new regulations introduced for the admissions in 2019. -
XAT has been a difficult paper and even the toppers could typically attempt less than half of the 90-100 question in 120 minutes allocated for the aptitude paper. To ensure that students are able to attempt a larger number of questions XAT, over the last few years, reduced the number of questions, reduced the level of difficulty of QADI and increased the time for the paper from 120 to 170 minutes.

Just like any percentile score is calculated, a percentile represents the rank of a candidate in an examination, relative to the rest of the candidates who appeared for the same examination in the same time-frame. If you ranked 1st, then there are 9 students behind you or 90% of the test-takers are ranked after you.

XAT 2017 paper had two parts. The first part of the paper consists of three sections namely Decision making, Verbal ability and Logical Ability, Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation. This section has time duration of 170 mins.
The second part of the paper consists of essay writing and questions testing your general awareness. This section has time duration of 35 minutes.
The total time duration is 205 mins.
There is a negative marking of 1/4th of the marks allotted for every question you attempt incorrectly. Candidates have an option of not attempting 12 questions after which for every unattempted question 0.05 mark is deducted.
