UGC NET Paper-1 consists of 50 multiple-choice questions (MCQs), each carrying 2 marks. The total marks for Paper-1 are 100. The questions in Paper-1 are designed to test the teaching and research aptitude, reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking, and general awareness of the candidate. There are 100 questions in total on UGC NET Paper 2. In Paper 2, each question is worth two marks. 200 marks are the most that can be earned in paper 2. The second UGC NET Paper evaluates candidates' subject-matter knowledge. Paper 2 is designed to evaluate applicants' knowledge and is subject-specific in nature. Part 1 and Part 2 comprise the two portions of the Paper 2. There are ten questions in Part 1 and ninety questions in Part 2.

UGC NET has two papers - Paper 1 and Paper 2. The guidelines and exam pattern is prescribed by the National Testing Agency (NTA). UGC NET Paper 1 has MCQ questions.
