Now come to the current affairs section. Do read some newspaper, read the important exam oriented issues. This will definitely help you to score a good mark in UPSC.

The pattern for prelims exam:
Preliminary Examination: Time duration: 2 hours per paper.
Paper 1
General Studies
100 Questions
100*2=200 marks
Paper 2
CSAT
80 Questions
80*2.5=200 marks
Note:
There is also negative marking i.e. 0.33 for every wrong answer.
Paper 2 is a qualifying paper .One has to get a minimum score of 66/200. (Applicable from 2015)
Hence, only Paper 1 marks count for the cutoff from 2015.
