What is the difference between MBA and PGDM?
Are MBA and PGDM two separate courses? If not, why do some colleges offer MBA while top IIMs only offer PGDM/PGP?

MBA: A Master in Business Administration (MBA) is a degree course offered by the colleges affiliated to the universities. So, only universities can offer MBA programmes. PGDM: A Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) is a Diploma course offered by the institutes that are recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and which are autonomous and not affiliated to any university. However, accreditation by Association of Indian Universities (AIU) makes an institutes PGDM course equivalent to an MBA.

Hi Neha ,As rightly said by Arun , it really doesn't matter what is the difference between one pursing an MBA or a PGDM ,more importantly if the college is a reputed college you should really opt for it.PGDM give you a hollistic view of the industry .Syllabus is on par with the practices followed by the corporates.
MBA through universities don't update their syllabus year on year as a result some topics we study might not be followed .In this way PGDM from a good institute really is a good option.
All the best. -

This is applicable in many other countries.
So, while one go for the higher courses we can suggest MBA and definitely PGDM for an experienced...more -
Hi Neha,
Must needed discussion;

On other hand MBA, although the institution from where the MBA is done are counted, but it matters more that from which university you wish to pursue a post graduate degree. Thus, even an MBA from a less p...more
