I got to hear that getting 97 percentile in JEE Mains January will not get me a seat for OC category in any NIT's. Is that true?

Let me explain to you how the percentile is to be understood. I am sure you are knowing it but still I want to explain. Somebody who has got 97 percentile means 3% of the total candidates who appeared for the examination are ahead of him. In case of JEE Mains examination including both the sessions it is expected that 10 Lacs students would appear for it. This indicates that 3% of 10 Lacs that is 3000 students will be ahead of you in the ranking. Definitely there are more than 3000 seats in all NIT's put together and hence I am sure you will get admission if you have scored 97 percentile. I am attaching a link that can...more
