I want to prepare for CAT. Is it true that the candidate with work experience get more advantage over the fresher?

Hi Its your CAT percentile that will lead to GD/PI. Work exp is an advantage bcoz of the practical experience one has in dealing with the day to day decision making at work place but in no way it gives you edge over freshers if you have clarity of ideas and goals. So prepare well and give your best.

Read this answer based on the level of work experience that you have, specially, for the interviews. I've also tried to give some tips at the end. Group Discussions: Get rid of the speaking fear: This is very common and very natural to have. The only way to get rid of is to participate in mock group discussion with friends or in coaching classes. It doesn't matter how much well prepared you are, if you cannot speak. In the same way, if you command an advantage over this fear, you will be able to outperform candidates who might be knowing a lot more than you do, but fail to communicate the right thing and the right time. Have faith in your abilities: A battle is half won if you're mentally ready for it. And if you prepare hard, that would give you the necessary confidence that you will do well. And that will give you the faith that you can out-perform others. You see, it becomes a cycle. If you sit in the GD room and wonder why didn't you prepare more, your confidence would go down, you will not believe in yourself and neither would the moderator. Read Newspaper: As simple as it may sound, but this is probably the most important thing. You need to be aware of what is happening around you. And of course, by newspaper I do not mean - Bombay Times, Delhi Times or the similar ones. Be aware of what is happening in the business world: After all you are going for an MBA, you need to be aware of knowing what is happening in the world of business. That doesn't mean, you need to remember the growth of a company XYZ in the last fiscal year. Have a bird's eye view of things and that should suffice. Personal Interviews: Be aware about yourself: Know everything about you. Does it sound easy? Can you tell me the meaning of your name? This is actually my favorite question and you would be surprised that many people don't know. And by awareness, I would also bring in what makes you the person that you are. Any life changing experiences, what motivates you, what doesn't motivate you etc. Know your hobbies: In a few recruitment interviews that I have done, this is my favorite. And specially if people have mentioned photography or movies, I just go for the kill. If you think you're a photographer, because you have a DSLR camera - think again.
