I am not quite aware of Petroleum Engineering at UPES but I must say Petroleum Engineering is purely centered on integrated approaches of Sciences and Engineering practices in the Oil & Gas Industry. This involves technological undertakings and emphasis of the same in the application of the concepts in Petroleum Exploration, Drilling, Production, Reservoir Engineering, Pipeline Engineering, Refinery Operations, LNG Value Chain, Petrochemicals and Natural Gas Processing. It depends on the pathway you select and the merit list generated. Mostly, you will get it.

No, taking admission in any particular branch is not based upon 12th percentage. It is totally based upon the rank of that college's exam.

Yes, with this grand percentage you can not just grab admission in UPES but scholarship too through the board merit list.
Also, you can get admission through JEE Mains score but do give the entrance test of the university i.e. UPESEAT exam.

That's really good if you got more than 90% marks but for getting admission in any good college you have to appear in the exam organized by them. UPES conduct their own exam named UPESEAT so you can apply for this for getting admission here. The last date for applying is April 20, 2018 and exam is conducted between May 11 to 13.

Yes, it should not be hard for you to get admission to the University of Western Australia as an Indian student with 50% in class 12th. However, please note that it does not put you in the top applicants either. The general admission percentage requirement for international students is 50 to 65%.

Look at the other admission requirements -

  • English proficiency tests with IELTS (bands 6.5) or TOEFL iBT (82+)
  • High school Diploma from a recognised board like CBSE or ICSE etc.
  • Some course-specific subjects for Engineering programs

Top universities require a minimum of 80-90% in your 12th-grade board exams.

  • Average universities often accept students with 60-75%.
  • For highly competitive courses like Medicine, cut off is usually higher.
  • Strong SAT/ACT scores can also compensate for a slightly lower board percentage.

Countries like Germany and Norway are excellent options. Because public universities there charge little to no tuition fees.  The cost of living and education is significantly lower compared to the USA or UK. You must factor in living expenses and language requirements.
