Although 6.5 is not poor, it is mediocre enough to get you a call from IIM for admisisons. If you clear the CAT exam and do well in the personal interview phase, you can get into the top IIMs, regardless of your CGPA. Since most management universities accept applicants with a 6.5 CGPA, you shouldn't worry about your score.

Yes, you should not worry about your CGPA at graduation to prepare for the CAT exam. A CGPA of 6.5 is not bad, but it is average enough to get you an admissions call from IIM.
