It is a public university located in Amritsar, Punjab, India. It was established in 1969 by the Government of India. GNDU is recognised by the UGC. The university is also accredited by NAAC with A+ grade and is conferred the status of University with Potential for Excellence by the UGC. Apart from this, GNDU has been ranked 44 under the 'University' category by the NIRF ranking in 2022. GNDU offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in a variety of disciplines.
