Your poor scores in engineering is an indicator of lack of interest in technical field. Therefore, changing stream to become generalist by doing MBA is a good career strategy. You can do any specialization of your interest to excel.

Pursuing MBA after B.Tech. Is definitely a Good option if you are intended to pursue your career in core management field as a long term goal. The students who are doing B.Tech. + MBA definitely stays in good shape in terms of Placement compared to others. Because those are having technical Knowledge along with business mindset. Dear Akshay, Just keep one thing in mind that your scores doesn't define you. It's all about your talent and interest. Choosing MBA calls for an interesting career change. An interesting career change! YES you can do MBA after B.Tech. MBA will complement your technical skills with management skills, you can move upwards in corporate ladder a bit more quickly, MBA get you into the positions of decision making, thus your value in the organisation would also increase. Most of the universities and colleges offer MBA in many of its subtypes and specializations. Provided that you clear the minimum eligibility criteria and selection process. In most of the top institutions like Iims etc. The minimum eligibility for graduation is 50% aggregate while some top players like LPU have fixed it at 55% in any stream of graduation. But the marks in graduation are not the only criteria, most of the institutions also take entrance tests or group discussions or interviews or all of them. Some top entrance examinations are: CAT MAT XAT SNAP IBSAT and LPU NEST. Choosing a right specialisation in MBA depends upon your interest. So, it is perfectly okay to do MBA after B Tech provided you are eligible as per marks and also comply with the other selection criteria if any. Very important point that comes to my mind is : You must first check your interests, attitude, passion and aspiration before taking a plunge, your aptitude will be checked by the university itself with the examination or interview. It is advisable to pursue the MBA only from top institutions, as only they provide the right launchpad for your career. There are some very good business schools which offer such programs like Iims, IITs, FMS Delhi, SPJMER, Great lakes Chennai, LBSIM, JIMS, UBS Chandigarh, SIBM, SCMHRD, IBS Hyderabad, LPU Punjab etc. Choose Wisely.
