5 years agoHi,You can go for either a regular degree or a correspondence. The college should be UGC approved. The subject of the NET should be the same as that of your Masters degree. Then you can pursue a Ph.D. and become a professor in a reputed university. The Ph.D. eligibility criteria is If you belong to a general category then your minimum post-graduation marks should be more than 55%. For SC/ST/PWD/Transgender candidates/Women applicants, it should be 50%. Yes, students who have done Masters from correspondence, are eligible for the UGC NET exam. It's not necessary to do regular post graduation course. Only you should have minimum 55% aggregate marks in Masters. And also remember that if you apply for JRF, your age must not be more than 30 years. For the assistant professor, there is no restriction regarding the age. -

If your degree is equivalent to a master's degree, then you can appear for NET (National Eligibility Test) exam. You should be qualified from a UGC approved university to appear for UGC NET exam.
Minimum 55% aggregate marks are required to appear in UGC NET (5% relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates). -
