Is it very difficult to get admission in IIM-A,B,C, Indore and Lucknow?
-
Hi Tanya,
Yes, it is difficult to get admission in IIM-A,B,C,I,L. Not just because CAT as an exam is considered tough, but also because these IIMs have a complex admission criteria. Most of the IIMs consider your 10th, 12th marks. Few give you extra marks if you have a work-ex, or if you are a female/transgender, or if you are from a non-technical background. Basis all this and your CAT score, you get a call for a Group Discussion/Personal Interview, where you'll again be competing with the top notch students from across the country.
So, considering all this, yes, it would be tough to get admission into all these colleges, but then, it...more -
On an average, IIM A, B, C demand a higher CAT percentile than Indore and Lucknow for admission. Each of them gives different weights to academics, work experience, CAT score, GD/What/PI rounds, etc. To get into these institutes you need to be in top 3 percentile of around 2 lakh participants. So, it is a bit tough to get in but the result is worth it. Rest the process is almost same.

It all depends on the level of the preparation for CAT. Rest depends on how well do you present in PI if at all you are called for it.
Good luck. -
