Is LPU good for B.Sc. Economics?

Economics at LPU, the under graduation course is called B.Sc. Enonomics Honours which is developed keeping in mind the changing economic scenario, this programme is capable of opening new opportunities especially for the students who wish to pursue a higher degree in the field of economics. The main elective courses from within the discipline, to give more depth or breadth to a student's core competencies. AGRICULTURAL ECONOMICS - Emphasizes on skills and knowledge in handling agricultural and rural development issues for a developing economy. APPLIED ECONOMETRICS - Discusses the application of advance topics of the statistical tools and techniques for conducting research in economics. FINANCIAL ECONOMICS Emphasizes on skills and knowledge in handling Financial development issues. GAME THEORY Game theory is the systematic study of strategic interactions that are present everywhere, not only in economics but in politics, sociology, law, computer Science, and sports. The main goal of the course is to introduce students to the basic concepts and tools of game theory and to apply these tools to real-life situations. Students will learn the fundamentals of game theory starting with basic terms such as strategies, payoffs, and information, and then will progress from the analysis of simple to more complex games. HEALTH ECONOMICS - Introduces students to the application of economic tools to the interaction among the many stakeholders in the health care system and the public health system. Course will also provide insight about Indian health system. INDIAN BANKING FRAMEWORK AND SYSTEM - This course aims to introduce Indian banking framework and system and illuminate our students to know the working of banking system in one of the largest growing economy. LAW AND ECONOMICS - This course will introduce students to the "law and economics" way of thinking about the legal system. Course will illuminate students to use the principles of economics to achieve legal decisions. In the end, it can be safely said that LPU is an entirely different and best system for Economics students with rigorous studies, case based learning, top notch faculty, international exposure, open minor options and large number of career pathways.

(Hons) Economics highlighted that the course is a mixture of conventional economics courses and modern day analytical tools. There are key points which are worth to be highlighted: 1. Capable of opening new opportunities especially for the students who wish to pursue a higher degree in the field of economics as it includes the subjects of economics starting from basics to the advanced one including the course on econometrics which is high in demand. 2. Education is imparted under semester system and or improved learning, emphasis is laid on Seminars and Case Based Teaching. 3. Now-a-days, the knowledge of statistical tools and its applicability is a highly required by big industries. This demand is fully kept in the mind when curriculum for the programme is designed. LPU provides the students with the following options: a. Core and Elective Courses b. Language and Communication Skills c. Open Minors d. Workshops and Seminar Courses 4. Last but not the least, Pathways are also floated which actually assist the student to achieve his/her dream. Three pathways such as Corporate Jobs, Government Jobs and Higher Studies are offered to the student in fourth term.
