Is LPU good for Food Technology? What is the scope of Food Technology?

There are around 500 million high and medium class consumers and any industry that is involved in the food sector, do not want to spoil the opportunity to grab the consumers. That's why the demand of food technologist is increasing day by day in India. A professional in the field of food technology can find the employment in the field of food manufacturing plant, research and development labs, catering companies, food whole sellers, restaurant and the hospital. People can choose the area of their working as per the interest of their subject. Some of the regulatory positions are also available by the introduction of new food law. Eligibility Criteria (Qualifying Exam) at LPU for B.Sc. In food Technology is: Pass with 60% aggregate marks in 10+2 (with English, Physics, Chemistry and Maths or Biology or Biotechnology or Food Processing as vocational subject) or equivalent. Pathway electives for CORPORATE JOBS FOOD INDUSTRY WASTE MANAGEMENT This course will provide the information for the tools and techniques used for waste management in food industry. INDUSTRIAL MICROBIOLOGY Develop an understanding of role microorganism in the fermentation and its industrial importance. PROJECT PREPARATION AND MANAGEMENT The course emphasizes on the importance of Project Management in a business and enable to use tools and techniques for decision making. RISK ANALYSIS The course will expose the students to various risks encountered during handling, processing and storage of food and methods to analyze the risks involved and their remedy. HIGHER STUDIES FLAVOR CHEMISTRY TECHNOLOGY The course will help the students to understand the Science behind the art of flavoring foods, their analysis, the problem of off-flavours and the reasons thereof, development offlavours for specific applications, and legal aspects on use of flavours in food products. FOOD PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT Impart knowledge about various technologies for food products development. FOOD QUALITY MANAGEMENT Provides information on physical, chemical and biological contaminants in foods and awareness about quality management in food production chain. PROCESSING OF PLANTATION CROPS HERBS AND SPICES The course is about the processing, equipment used and value addition of plantation crops like tea, coffee, coconut, cashew and arecanut. There is a big opportunity to work with across the countries with multinational companies. There is no placement statistics are available for the asked course on LPU website. So its better to visit LPU and asked to some old students regarding this before taking any decision.

Hi B.Tech in Food Technology is a 4-year course whicj requires pass with 60% aggregate marks in 10+2 (with Physics, Chemistry, English and Mathematics or Biology or Biotechnology) or equivalent, subject to qualifying LPUNEST^ (5% relaxation to North East states and Sikkim candidates/ Defence Personnel and their Dependents/ Wards of Kashmir Migrants) It is an Engineering programme which trains students in the technical concepts of Food Process Engineering, Food Analysis and regulations, Crop Processing Technology, Plant and Animal biotechnology. It is an industry-oriented course that trains students for handling roles in food manufacturing, food processing, research laboratories and similar industries. Graduates in B.Tech food technology can find jobs in various government organizations, laboratories etc. Many firms working under the Food Corporation of India recruit graduates in this field.
