    Yes, National Institute Of Technology is a government institute. It is also one of the 31 institutes set up by the government termed as ' Institutes of National Importance ' . The institute is funded by the Ministry Of Education, India. 

    Admissions at NIT Calicut are accepted through the entrance examination- JEE Mains.

    NIT Calicut is a technical institute that was established by the Government of India in 1961. The National Institute of Technology Calicut (NIT Calicut or NITC), formerly Regional Engineering College Calicut, is a public technical university and an institute of national importance governed by the NIT Act passed by the Parliament of India. NIT Calicut is ranked 23 for Engineering and 2 for Architecture in the NIRF 2023 rankings. The institute offers several courses in Engineering, Management, Architecture, and Sciences. These courses are offered under UG, PG, and Doctoral degrees.
