Is PIBM good for MBA or should I go for PGDM? I have heard that PIBM does not focus on MBA but more on PGDM.

As an alumnus of PIBM Pune, I can share my experience with you. PIBM Pune is a very good institute in India. Ranks 32nd in the Top 100 B-Schools in India. PGDM and MBA both courses in PIBM are equally wonderful and also placements for both the courses are equivalent. PGDM is AICTE approved and courses are designed as per corporate demand by the college but MBA is affiliated with Pune University. These are the basic difference between these two courses otherwise college is taking care of both MBA and PGDM courses very well. Students of PIBM train on communication, aptitude, presentation skill, mock gd-pi, and many more. PIBM provides practical exposure through live projects, internships, live business projects, corporate interaction, and many more with classroom learnings. In the pandemic situation also, the college organizes online classes, placement preparation, mock GD-PI, and most of the students of batch 2019-21 are placed with reputed companies like Deloitte, e-Clex, Cians, Dabur, ITC, Reckitt Benckiser, TIAA, LODHA Group, Xanadu Realty, CITCO, and many more. with the highest package of 15 LPA and the average package is 6.5 LPA.

While there are huge similarities in the curriculum of both MBA and PGDM, there are finer points of difference. While MBA focuses more on theoretical aspects of management and is more exam-oriented, PGDM has a focus on building soft skills and is industry-oriented. It prepares you for the job market. Since an autonomous institute does not have to follow university standards, it is free to change its curriculum according to industry standards and change in business environment. Also, a PGDM gives you an industry exposure whereas it will take time to change the curriculum for MBAs as it is affiliated with a university and it will essentially follow the university guidelines and changing this curriculum is a very slow process. But PIBM always makes sure they train their both MBA and PGDM students in a similar manner. Placement and internship process is conducted in a similar way. Hope this helps you. PIBM Pune is one of the best colleges in India for both MBA and PGDM courses. PIBM Pune offers a PGDM course which is an AICTE approved course is the flagship program at PIBM Pune. PIBM also offers an MBA course in affiliation with Savitribai Phule Pune University. Both MBA and PGDM students are trained together only difference is that MBA students follow the curriculum of the university and PGDM students are trained on the industry-aligned curriculum that is designed by the corporate leaders who are associated with the PIBM. But MBA students at PIBM also train on the latest requirement of industry like certification, internships, live projects, simulation-based training, placements, learning, etc. There is no difference in the training of MBA and PGDM students.

Many of my friends have done their MBA and PGDM programs from PIBM. They have always said positive things, as far as I know, PIBM gives equal efforts for MBA and PGDM. Just that MBA is affiliated with Pune University and PGDM is AICTE approved and the curriculum is designed by the college itself. But the training methods are the same for both the courses.
