The Design programme at IILM University, Gurugram emphasizes conceptual thinking as much as, if not more than, software skills. While students do gain proficiency in essential design tools and software, the curriculum prioritizes developing creativity, problem-solving abilities, and a strong understanding of design principles. Through projects, workshops, and interdisciplinary assignments, students are encouraged to think critically, explore innovative ideas, and translate concepts into tangible solutions. This balanced approach ensures that graduates are not just technically competent but also capable of approaching design challenges

It's both, but the balance is what makes it strong. First semester, students don't just get thrown into Photoshop or AutoCAD, rather they spend time sketching, understanding form, color theory, and why certain designs work in the first place. Only after that foundation do they bring in digital tools like Adobe Illustrator, Figma, or Rhino.

It aims to make its students feel less like “learning software” and more like “thinking like a designer” and then using the right tool for execution.
