It's depend on your stream which stream you are going if you are choosing Science then many central university does not require GT but if you preparing for take admission in arts then it is compulsory.

Many central universities don't require general test for admission, for candidates of Science stream it is not compulsary but for candidates of arts maybe it is required .
You can check in the university website whether general test is required or not in the course you are applying .
