Yes, VIT Vellore is approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and accredited with an 'A+' grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). It was established in 1984 as a self-financing institution called the Vellore Engineering College under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956.
