Yes, it is true. You can get one of the best finance faculty and infrastructure required for finance studies at IIM, Calcutta.

We cannot say that it is the best option. It can be the best in any one area such as faculty, academics, student life or placements but being best overall is tough. All the old IIMs are at the same level that is what I think. IIM-Calcutta is obviously one of the best business schools in our country. IIM-Calcutta is the only triple-accredited business school in India. It is one of only 74 business schools around the world and 5 in Asia which are authorized by the three largest and most powerful worldwide B-School accreditation associations: AACSB, AMBA, and EQUIS. It is also the only Indian business school that is a part of the Global Alliance in Management Education (CEMS). Worldwide, the Financial Times has ranked IIM-Calcutta 23rd in its Masters in Management Ranking 2016 and 95th in its Global MBA Ranking 2017. These stats speak for themselves.

IIM C is better than rest of the IIMs including IIM A in finance. It is just an opinion and there is no hard fact supporting it. Here are some arguments and counter arguments for the same: Argument - Students from IIM A finance opt for more consulting roles than IIM C. Counter Argument - It does not prove anything. This is just because IIM A is visited by lot of companies out of which many are well reputed consulting firms. Argument – Nowadays, students are preferring IIM C for finance over IIM A. Counter Argument - Just check the waiting list for both IIMs for finance. IIM A has a lot more students lining up for admission in finance than IIM C Argument - Many companies that visit IIM C don't visit IIM A for finance recruitment. Counter-argument - Whatever! IIM A also has large investment banks like Barclays, HBSC, MS, and PEs like AION which recruit at IIM A and not at IIM C. So, if I had to choose, I would still pick IIM Ahmedabad.

One of the best B-School in India are the IIMs mostly the abbreviation are A,B, C that is Ahmedabad,Bangalore and Calcutta. The ranking usually varies between these three sometime on the first position its Bangalore followed by Ahmedabad and Calcutta . Yes, for finance top B-School is IIM,Calcutta. If you aspire to be a banker, a market maker or a trader there is no place in India that prepares you better than IIM-C. The sheer analytical content in every course, the advanced nature of the finance courses, the various unique positions/roles offered to IIM-C students every year all point to this simple fact that if you want to do finance, you should be in IIM-C. I will not talk about the eco/finance faculty to avoid stating the blindingly obvious. You may disagree on IIM-Cs supremacy on a million counts, but if you think finance you think IIM-C.
