There are numerous opportunities for a sociology graduate in government sector-
A graduate in sociology can pursue Masters in sociology and appear for UGC National Entrance Test (NET) or State Entrance Test (SET) and apply for Assistant professor position in government universities across India.
One can also appear for Union Public Service Commission and State Public Service Commission exams.

It is a generalist degree, so none in particular. It is like studying philosophy or English. You can become a social worker, but that might require another year or two of training.
Depending on your skill set, you can also find positions in statistics, research design, data analysis, etc. But, graduation rates are such that most of these spots are taken by those with Masters.
