What is COVID-19 Scholarship at LPU?

COVID-19 Pandemic has affected every individuals life like a rollercoaster ride. This pandemic has brought a great fear in the minds of people leaving them totally pessimistic in their thought. The effect is not only physical, mental but is financial too as people are facing financial distress. But there is frontline workforce which has not bowed infront of this pandemic and stood against this. The workforce consists of Doctors, Nurses, Par-medical staff, Civic staff, Police personnel and many more who are working across the corners to protect our country against the pandemic. I heard alot that Lovely Professional University realises the selfless service of the COVID-19 frontline workforce and the fight of the survivors and has offered Scholarship up to full programme fee waiver worth INR 20 Crores to support the wards/dependents of these individuals in all the regular programmes offered for Academic session 2020-21. I was keen to know the same and then inquired from the counsellors of LPU regrading the same and came to know the following: 1. Survivors of COVID-19 and wards of Deceased due to COVID-19 will get Full programme fee waiver 2. Wards of Medical Staff/ Health Workers, Medical Professionals, Police Personnel of all States/UTs Municipal Corporations/ Councils/ Nagar Panchayats or any other Municipal Body or equivalent, Media Persons, Indian Railways Employees, Airline Employees, Bank Employees, Employees of Pharma Companies/Research Laboratories and District Administration will get 20% programme fee waiver. The special scholarship will be awarded for the full duration of the programme. The counsellor also mentioned that the candidate needs to take admission first and then apply for the scholarship as the last date to apply for scholarship under this scheme is 31st July 2020. LPU introduces COVID-19 FRONTLINE Scholarship scheme to honour the selfless contribution of all Covid-19 Warriors during pandemic breakout COVID-19 pandemic has not only caused unprecedented health crisis but also a huge financial distress. Fighting against this global pandemic has always been seen a self-less frontline workforce comprising Doctors, Nurses, Para-Medical staff, Civic staff, Police personnel and many more. Still, they are regularly working day & night to protect the country and its suffering populace. Honouring selfless service of such a devoted frontline workforce and also the fighting spirit of the survivors or the victims; Lovely Professional University (LPU) has initiated to provide Scholarship worth Rs 20 Crores to their wards, under its CSR activity. These scholarships will be offered in all the regular programmes for the Academic Session 2020-21, and are for the full duration of the programme. For this, LPU has framed eligibility criteria under 13 categories covering wards of dedicated workforce and affected ones. These are for the wards of Medical Staff/ Health Workers; Medical Professionals (Pharmacists); Police Personnel of all States/UTs; Municipal Corporations/ Councils/ Nagar Panchayat or any other Municipal Body or equivalent; Media Persons; Indian Railways Employees; Airline Employees; Bank Employees; Employees of Pharma Companies/Research Laboratories; and, District Administration. Wards falling under all of these categories will get a Tuition Fee waiver of 20%. For the Survivors of COVID-19; Deceased of COVID-19 (wards and self) full programme fee waiver is applicable.

Apply for COVID-19 Frontline scholarship. Submit the valid proof (ID Card, Service Certificate from employer, Drug license, Medical Shop Registration, Discharge Certificate from Hospital or any other document certifying the proof of eligibility for scholarship). A Certificate from the Head of the Institute may have to be submitted certifying the involvement of concerned employee in essential services during lockdown due to COVID-19. Document establishing relationship (10th mark sheet, Aadhar card, Ration card, Voter ID card) need to be submitted. Documents will be verified by a committee specially constituted for this purpose for swift approval of all the cases. Last date to apply for scholarship under this scheme is over. Scholarship is applicable in programmes offered in regular mode only. Wards will include son/s and/or daughter/s who are dependents also. Scholarship is applicable for Indian applicants only. Waiver will be given from programme fee only.

Lovely Professional University offers various undergraduate and postgraduate programs in more than 40 departments for which cut off is determined based on the reservation categories. Some of the important points regarding LPU cut off are listed below. LPU conducts the Lovely Professional University National Entrance and Scholarship Test LPU NEST which along with merit are used for the selection of the students. The cut off of LPU NEST 2021 will be released after the results of LPU NEST are declared in online mode.
