There is a very big difference.
Chemical engineers work with chemicals to make other chemicals by using chemical reactions and chemical processes.
Petroleum engineers don't work with petroleum to make other petroleum products. Actually, chemical engineers do that.
What Petroleum engineers do is help produce petroleum in the oil and gas industry. They usually plan the production of oil and gas from the oil and gas reservoir, for example how complete the well and bring the product to the surface, using pumps or natural pressure, what equipment to place in and around the producing well to treat the product and remove unwanted by-p...more -
There is a vast difference.Petroleum engineering is a concentrated field but its scope in India is much more compared to chemical engineering.
