Which college is better for B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering: VIT University or SRM University, Chennai?

Hi, Both the colleges are very good colleges. VIT it is basically known for the placements of CS and SRM is very good college for mechanical. In terms of campus facilities, area and infrastructure, SRM takes the big lead with a lot more than what VIT (Chennai campus) has to offer. As the VIT Campus is new, quality of the classrooms, lecture halls would be fancy for a few years to come. But, as far as academics and exposure are concerned, I guess VIT takes a lead by giving the students options to choose their class timings, majority of their subjects and even their professors using the slot-based system. The quality of education, the level of the students and even the companies coming for placement are a bit better in VIT when compared to SRM. SRM University has excellent labs and has a separate automobile and aerospace hangar, which come under the mech and aero departments respectively. But there are two problems. One,few of the faculty are not very knowledgeable. Two, there are some thousand students in a single batch and that has led to overcrowding. Also, i'd say that out of the thousand students they accept, around 800900 of them take mechanical because they had no other option, and not because they were serious about it. So th student environment isn't very good. But still, if you have the will to ignore all these things and use the facilities wisely, then SRM University is a good place for mechanical engineering.

For mechanical engineering, SRM will be better than VIT as this college has a better faculty for this branch than VIT.

Though both the universities are doing well to make their system on the top, SRM leads when it comes to mechanical engineering but with a small difference. The infrastructure when compared to both institutions is a bit old, which may be obvious but the same is not reflected in practice as both the colleges are spending huge funds to maintain it. Now, SRM has a separate large section of mechanical engineering and has more skilled and experienced faculties than VITEEE. Also, it has more active participation in many live events and competitions which contributes a lot to the development of mechanical aspirants. Here SRM has the facility if a student is getting an average CGPA of around 6 then also he is eligible for the placement. Although the same is not the case in VIT where one has to maintain a good CGPA and cv to qualify for the job. At the end, when comparing about the placements Rs 7 lakh is the average from SRM whereas Rs 4 to Rs 5 lakhs from VIT. The highest varying around Rs 25 lakhs for both. So, in short for mechanical students, go for SRM if you have the opportunity although VIT is also not a bad option. Thank you. Hope it helped.

Engineering education is one of the trendiest education nowadays. A large number of students each year pursue an engineering education. Lot of them are not getting right job in the right core sector where they require. One of the major reason is that engineering colleges increased and education has become a business. Engineering Education is all about having practical skills and knowledge. Majority of the universities in India provide education just based on the university curriculum. This has hampered the engineering education. The two colleges SRM and VIT are always different from other private institutes which offer mechanical engineering. Vellore Institute of Technology is one of the world famous campuses for MBA education. The campus offers quality educational and excellent infrastructure. SRM is also a famous campus in south India. They have efficient placement cell and excellently qualified faculties. Always it's better to Vellore Institute of technology because it is a world famous campus with a strong alumni network.

VIT ranks among the top 6 private colleges nationwide, While SRM ranks at 11th position on the same list. SRM office various facilities like automobile hanger, separate mechanical campus, and many others. While VIT provides the same facilities it is certainly better at placements considering the past records and the highest packages achieved by students of VIT. Both universities provide equal opportunities for those who wish to study abroad in the future by means of programmes like a semester abroad, dual degree, Twinning Programme and various others. It all draws down to one thing if you want to enjoy your college life and don't want to it be too harsh on you, join SRM while if you want to get better placements free, it is the call you should make. Only thing is SRM has an added advantage of the number of mechanical and automobile industries running in Chennai giving them an upper hand during placements. Choose wisely.
