If you are specifically targeting European universities and educational institutions, IELTS is more widely accepted there. Conducted jointly by the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations, British Council and IDP Education Australia, IELTS is considered slightly more difficult than TOEFL.

Starting Jan 21, 2026, the New TOEFL format changes totally. The exam is much shorter, only 85 minutes long. The score changes to a 0-6 Band scale instead of 120. It is now adaptive with real tasks like Writing emails. Also, the Speaking section has no preparation time, so you must answer immediately.

You don't need a teacher or partner. Just use your mobile phone recorder for TOEFL Speaking practice. Talk to yourself on simple topics and listen to your recording to catch mistakes. It is the fastest way to improve.
