The legal maxims are part of the legal aptitude section of the CLAT paper. This is one of the more unpredictable topics, as some years there may be only three to four legal maxima, whereas in other years, like in 2017, there were around 15 maxima in the LA section. Therefore, for this topic, you need to stick to last year's papers and read selective maxims. Based on previous year's question papers, some examples of legal maxims are:

4. Ex officio
5. Functus officio
You can look over the previous year's CLAT papers to note down the important ones to prepare. -
All the legal maxims as envisaged in the syllabus are expected to be studied by the aspirants. The most important and relevant ones can be sorted by analysing previous year question papers and patterns. You can also seek the support of external mock tests to familiarize with the Legal Reasoning part. The questions are Multiple Choice driven so it's better to prepare for the tests on an application level basis.
