Which of these is better: BE in Telecommunication Engineering from MSRIT or BE in CSE from RVCE?

This is an autonomous institute and is located in the prime location of South India which is home to a large number of global and national corporates and is called the Silicon Valley of India. The difference where the students create is primarily based on the branch chosen. Though MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology is working well under the funding of state government and regarded as one if the preferred institution but when it comes to telecommunication then RV College of Engineering has a placement plus point when compared regarding CSE. Though telecommunication branch is also a technical branch and finds a wide scope at the global perspective still the recent record shows the lead of CSE from RV College of Engineering. It is advisable to definitely go with CSE from RV College of engineering although one may go with telecommunication if one is having the passion for the same. The average placement from MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology in telecommunication is 7 Lacs per annum with 14 Lacs being the highest. Whereas from RV College of engineering, the placements on an average are of 10 Lacs per annum with 22 Lacs being the highest in the recent placement drives. From the above facts, it is clear that which branch and college is having a lead. Therefore, take a wise decision but go with your passion. Thank you, hope it helped.

Hi, The answer to your question involves multiple dynamics and it is not possible to answer it in terms of a single factor. So, I'll try to include multiple factors for you to understand it better. Faculty: Both the colleges have equally knowledgeable faculty. However, professors in RVCE-CSE are inclined more towards research. This is the reason why you would see multiple patents coming out of the department. Also, CISCO has established COE (Center of Excellence) within the college wherein the company supports students innovations and fund their projects. Infrastructure: Both the colleges have multiple labs. RVCE has an added advantage of particular labs set up by the companies like Nvidia, NI, NXP, etc. There are various software available for you to research and make projects. Projects from these departments generally get funded by the companies. Placements: Placement is something that every student is concerned about more than anything else. Well, both the colleges have equally good placements. RVCE-CSE current semester placements boast the package of 25 LPA and still counting. These are offered by top giants like Microsoft, Amazon, Samsung, Goldman Sachs, Cisco, Morgan Stanley, Walmart Labs, Mckinsey & Co., Qualcomm, etc. CSE in RVCE is really good, probably the best in Bangalore. I would recommend you to opt for CSE in RVCE and you won't regret it. Hope it helps.

Hi, Telecom Department of MSRIT: 1) I would say that the faculty which the dept. has is very good. The teachers are not only good teaching-wise but they also make sure that the syllabus is completed and are always ready to help for everything, be it project related issues or attendance issues. Also, I would like to add that most of the teachers are very warm and friendly and always approachable. Telecommunication is not a very easy branch academic-wise when compared to other branches in MSRIT, only EEE is tougher than Telecom. CS and EC may be as tough as Telecom but surely not more. But I have also seen that in all these branches, students also struggle because of some extra tough teachers or some crazy dept. practices. All that you will not face in Telecom, even teachers would not want you to fail and until you are really hopeless, you should atleast clear your subjects. 2) Placement-wise, a lot depends on you. You will get placed for sure but let me tell you that most of the companies during placements (especially the high package ones) come to college to recruit CS and IS students. So yes as a Telecom student you would be sitting in fewer companies than your friends in CS IS or even EC and EEE. That's one 'not so good' thing about the telecom dept. and its more of placement dept. fault than the Telecom Dept. But let me also add that there are companies like Ericsson which prefer Telecom Students and if you can learn programming then you can even get a high paying job as one of my classmates did in National Instruments and you can always apply off-campus as my some of my classmates did and got jobs in companies like Honeywell, Cisco, etc. Placements for CSE and IT branches in RVCE is very good, this year average package till now is above 6.20 LPA. Highest being above 32 LPA and more companies coming with a package above 20 LPA. Last year we had an average above 5.30 LPA, with the highest package offered to be 22 LPA. This is much higher than many NITs. 2 students of RVCE also bagged off campus package of 63 LPA. Placement for IT and CSE is 100% from last 2 years and some student also had more than 1 job offers(Dream Jobs) with them.Average package is rising every year, with more(quantity) and better(quality) companies coming for campus hiring every year. Internship opportunities for pre-final year students are also increasing rapidly every year. Choose wisely. All the best.
