Which one should I prefer for an LL.B: Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University or Galgotias University and why?

Hi, well the choice between an NLU and a private institute should not be difficult though but yes preferences differ from person to person. However, DSNLU would comparatively be a better choice owing to its NLU tag which is enough to make a choice. As at an NLU you get the world-class education owing to its unique academics setup experienced faculties and infrastructure. DSNLU has also witnessed a good placement for 2017 and various LPOs have been the top recruiters. Thus the hindrance is no more there. Also at an NLU like this, you get the best exposure as the facilities are available which no one provides. Also, Galgotias University is not a name that is taken for legal studies only as it is not an exclusive one for law and thus there is a diversification of everything. At an NLU though you get specialized legal education and other complementing facilities.

Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University (DSNLU) is one of eighteen national law universities which take admission on the basis of common law admission test (CLAT) and as everyone knows that NLUs are better than any other law school in the country but for DSNLU 60 out of 120 seats are reserved for students from Andhra Pradesh. There are almost 550 students in DSNLU and 30 full-time teachers. Galgotias University is a private university and it is also a famous university. This has a really good infrastructure and has total students more than 4000. When it comes to fee Galgotias University charges very less fee compared to DSNLU. The fee in Galgotias for BA LL.B is almost Rs 1.2 lakh annually and in DSNLU you have to pay approximately Rs 2.8 lakhs per annum which is a lot more than Galgotias. Both in DSNLU you will get the good crowd as all the students are top scorers in CLAT compared to Galgotias University and the word NLU is attached with DSNLU which really valuable when it comes to legal education in India. So overall go for DSNLU if you can pay Rs 2.8 lakhs per annum.

I'll suggest you opt for Galgotias as this college is better than Damodaram in every respect, the faculty of Galgotias is best, placements of this college are good and also the study environment of this college is quite nice.

Hey there, this is my personal belief that National law Universities have upper hand over rest of the law colleges of the country. People have started recognizing NLUs as IITs of the legal fraternity. I don't think that going to private college like Galgotias is worth leaving an NLU for one simple reason which is the crowd. If reservation in domicile is ignored than the crowd is majorly those people who are from rank 2500-3500 and it has improved in last few years. They got their permanent campus recently and the faculty has improved in past few years. The placements are really nice for a newly established university except the fact that most of them are LPOs. Galgotias will give you a locational advantage. However, NlUs focus a lot on co-curricular activities like mooting, research paper, debating and many others which clearly shows that NLUs are the best option to choose. The major problem with NLUs is red tapism and a bit of administration inefficiency which can be dealt with. Rest is your choice. Good luck.
