You can apply for either post in the Indian Audit and Accounts Department under CAG. The reasons why the position of an AAO is best are as follows: 1. Level of post: AAOs are group B-gazetted officers; on the other hand, all other posts in CGL are non-gazetted. Some other jobs are group C jobs, such as inspector of income tax. Therefore, the AAOs enjoy more prestige as they can authorize the issuance of official government stamps. 2. Job profile: The AAO works in the audit department under the CAG of India. The work of the AAO is dynamic in nature and includes auditing. This work is highly important under the IAAD, and they can perform audit inspections. Most other posts are either completely field jobs, like inspectors, or completely desk jobs, like upper division clerks. However, most young applicants prefer an assistant audit officer over an assistant accounts officer. 3. Promotions: They outperform all other posts in terms of promotions. For example, you will join as an assistant audit officer and gradually get promoted to the post of senior deputy accountant general after four promotions. The promotions that you can get are Audit Officer, Sr. Audit Officer, and Deputy Accountant General before getting your final promotion.
