Why the cut-off of IIEST low, it is a reputed college?
I can pursue B.Tech in CSE in IIEST, Shibpur.

Because it recently got its INI status (2014) , so many students had no idea about this college. Also IIEST provides dual degree courses, so naturally some students are apprehensive in taking admission here as the current placement scenario is not favorable for such courses. Still as a CST (Its not CSE) student of this college, I can positively say that this will not be a problem in terms of placement,as long as you have the knowledge. Also they are reconsidering this dual degree option and may provide an exit option at the end of 4 years, so just wait for any more news. Any more queries just ask here.

It is really a reputed college, it comes in league with IIT and top NITs and is "An Institute of National Importance" and is second oldest college of the nation. It has recently got IIEST tag and carries a tag of "Indian Institute". The placements are rising with a great pace. The reason for low cutoff is because it has dual degree course only and it is not that much famous outside WB. -
Akash, the reason for its cut off being less could be that they must not be having good placements.
You can try for admission somewhere else too. These days we have so many good private universities also imparting quality education to the students around the world. They offer you admission on JEE scores/ tests conducted by them/ your marks in 12th. Some of these also offer good scholarships based on any one of the above mentioned admission criteria.
