Are admissions in NID, Gandhinagar based on 12 percentage or entrance exam?

Admissions in NID, Gandhinagar is completely based on the entrance exam conducted by NID. One must clear the entrance exam and get an eligible rank. Though clearing class 12th exam is necessary as well.
