Are B-schools very selective for executive MBA admissions? Is the criteria very difficult to crack?

Executive MBA (EMBA) is an intensive one-year residential or distance learning or combination of residential and distance learning programme created specifically for professionals with 5 years or more work experience. EMBA provides students with the same solid foundation in key management concepts and disciplines as a two-year full-time MBA. Executive MBA course work is built on the basis of those students who have diverse and extensive work experience by virtue of which they will able to related to management theories and concepts. Candidate selection is based on assessment based on following criteria: (a) Academic background (b) Professional experience (c) GMAT score (d) Personal interviews (e) Statement of Purpose (f) Recommendation An overall assessment is made on the basis of all these factors for selecting candidates for admission. B-schools are very selective with respect to selection of candidates for full-time one year EMBA program. Tier I B-schools treat selection process of EMBA in line with their regular MBA program. Seats are limited and selection is tough. But selection criteria of all format of EMBA such as distance learning, online, weekend EMBA other than full-time EMBA is not very stringent.

The definition of selective may differ for different people, but it is far easier to get into executive MBA program, especially when compared to full-time MBA programs in the same institutes. The toughest institutes to get into will be IIM, XLRI, FMS, MDI, IMT, ISB, NMIMS, XIM and IIFT. Acceptance rates for these institutes are less revealing because in many cases there is an entrance exam followed by a conversation that occurs between would-be applicants and schools that makes a good number of potential candidates not to enter on an easy basis.The criteria is not that tough as compared to the regular full-fledged courses followed by 2-10 experience with the declaration of CAT/XAT/GMAT and other top MBA entrance exam results, half of the race of grabbing a seat in the coveted B-Schools is already won. The next half of the race is yet to be conquered. After receiving the shortlist offer from your chosen B-Schools, you need to face the second round of the selection procedures. When it comes to the round of selection, one size does not fit all. Each institute has a different selection methodology to follow. The environment in all top B-Schools is conducive, the professors & seniors are very helpful. All top B-Schools are located at the central part of the city hence there are no snarls in the transportation. The fooding & lodging provided is healthy in nature.

Hi, An Executive MBA programme is a graduate level study. It is primarily designed to educate the existing working executives, managers, entrepreneurs, business people and other employees who want an MBA degree for their future career. The executive MBA programme is designed for an executive working professional kind of people. They have to attend classes during evenings or weekends. These programs vary from school to school. Actually, this type of study is expensive as compared to the traditional MBA programme. For both executive and traditional study, there is competition, the tuition fee is high as compared to the traditional programme. There should be a minimum of 3-years of experience in the job. Selection of an executive MBA programme is very important. You must choose the best programme it should help you to grow your career goals. There is no such difficulty to crack if you are ready to put effort to take it. All the best.

Yes, they are very selective and they judge the candidate on the basis of his work experience and aptitude for management. Besides, the seats for Executive MBA are very less and therefore, not many candidates take admission in it. Not all the colleges offer executive MBA course. The most reputed ones are of course the IIMs which have executive MBA course.

Executive MBA is of a shorter duration and the admission process is simpler to that of regular MBA. Work experience of minimum 3 years is a must for Executive MBA program. Many institutes also don't have an admission test for allotting admissions.
