Are coaching classes necessary to qualify JEE Mains and Advanced? Is it possible by self-studies?

It's possible to get cleared by self-study but I would strongly recommend to get a coaching class. -
for mains our NCERT or board books are sufficient but it is too difficult for cracking IIT. Arihant books are very helpful for both
