Are IIMs private institutes or are they run by the government?

The IIMs are autonomous institutes under the Ministry of Human Resources and Development, Government of India. The institutions are financially aided by the Government of India but have complete autonomy in administration including fees, courses, syllabus, pedagogy, placements and day-to-day functio
