Are IT and computer science engineering same or different? Are both these branches software based or not?

    No, they are not. To make it more accurate what I will say is IT is a subset of CSE. Being a CSE student, I can see the difference between IT and CSE easily. They are certain core CSE subjects which IT students don't study. From job point of view, IT companies mostly recruit CSE student but if you have skills, then you will definitely get hired. Study-wise, there is a little less pressure in IT as compared to CSE.
