Mechatronics is a multi-faceted field. It makes you a jack of many trades. For example, I have learned about motors, control systems, software development for making things autonomous, sensors and how to use them, electronic components and embedded hardware, kinematics, and dynamics of systems and CAD. So with this sort of knowledge, you fill roles where cross-platform expertise is demanded. A person who has some knowledge of other branches of engineering is always highly respected.
