Both the CSIR NET and UGC NET Exam are conducted for similar purposes. But still, there is difference in these two exams.
The similarity in these two exams are -
The National Testing Agency is responsible for conducting both these exams.
Both exams are conducted for selecting the candidates for lectureship or awarding Junior Research Fellowship.
Both exams are conducted twice a year.
The major difference in these exams is -
CSIR NET Exam is conducted for only science stream aspirants whereas the UGC NET Exam comprises subjects of humanities and languages.

CSIR NET exam is conducted to fulfil two aims i.e.
1. Only LS (Lectureship)
2. Both LS and JRF. CSIR NET conducts only one exam. There is different cut off criteria which decides JRF and LS. At the time of filling the application form. There is option which is opting for? Only LS
Both LS and JRF. Candidates who choose LS their selection criteria are measured as per the Lectureship cut-off marks and those candidates who opt both LS and JRF their cut-off is calculated for both LS and JRF separately. The last date to apply online is 9th October 2019. I hope the above information will help you out. All the Best.
