For SC/ST candidates, the eligibility requirement is 55% marks in aggregate of three subjects, namely, Physics, Mathematics, and any one subject out of Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, and Technical Vocational subject. Board toppers who are among the first five toppers of recognised Boards of India are also given direct admission. Children of Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology employees have 1% of seats reserved for them.

TIET (Thapar Institute) generally has one of the strongest private-university placement records in North India. For BTech, top branches like CSE, COE, ENC see high placement rates, with many students getting multiple offers. Companies like Microsoft, Adobe, Deloitte, and Zscaler hire regularly, and internships are solid too.
If you're comparing private universities, Thapar's placement ecosystem is definitely above average, mainly because of its industry ties and project-driven culture.
