Yes, you have rooms available near VIT. There are many canteens available inside and outside the VIT campus. You can come, enquire and choose for your type. I guess there is a policy in VIT that freshers will not be allowed to stay outside the campus without proper approval or reason. Please check w

Living outside would be even more costly than living in hostel. So I suggest you to take room with your friends in hostel than living outside.
